We’re Sandra and Fede, and we created Siesta and Gelato in 2024.
We met while working as nurses in the UK, and both of us worked in ICU and Emergency Departments during the pandemic. After that period, we were feeling a bit burnt out, and we really felt we needed to embark on new projects and adventures.
During this time, we longed for our trips and decided to start writing and organizing all the travel content we’d collected over the years. In a way, dreaming about trips kept us sane 😄 Of course, we also began planning new trips for when the pandemic finally ended! ✈️
Over the years, we’ve lived in the UK, Italy, and Spain, and many friends asked for our travel advice and itineraries. That’s when we thought: why not share it with everyone? And that’s how Siesta and Gelato was born.
As you can imagine, we’ve spent our careers as clinical nurses, so we had ZERO knowledge about web design or writing a blog! It’s definitely been a challenge, but hey, we worked in ICU and Emergency during Covid, so in our minds, nothing could be harder than that!

I’m a travel enthusiast from Empoli, a town near Florence, Italy. My passion for exploring the world took off when I moved to the UK in 2015, and since then, I haven’t stopped traveling.
Alongside my love for travel, I’m passionate about running and fitness. No matter where I am, I always find a way to stay active—whether it’s a sunrise run along the beach or a workout in a mountain village, movement is part of my journey.

Just like Fede, I’m a travel enthusiast, and it all started when I moved to the UK for work in 2015. I guess that’s why we’ve been together for seven years! 😉
With more than 40 countries under my belt, it seems like I just can’t stop exploring. I’ve always been drawn to the ocean (probably because I was born by the seaside!), so you’ll often find me choosing blue destinations.
I also have a passion for unusual sports like pole dance and roller skating—I love a challenge! Adventure, sports, and travel are my perfect mix, and I can never say no to trying something new.
On the blog, I’m the one behind the aesthetics ✨, photography, and socials, as well as keeping everything organised when we document our travels (someone has to do it! 😂).
